Manchester City berharap bisa membeli Sergio Aguero dari Atletico Madrid dan Samir Nasri dari Arsenal sebelum akhir Juli. "Aguero adalah tipe pemain yang cocok dengan Manchester City karena dia masih muda dan pemain yang bagus seperti halnya Carlos Tevez," kata Roberto Mancini, manajer Manchester City dalam wawancara dengan Sky Sports. "Dia bisa mencetak banyak gol dan bisa dipasangkan dengan Mario Balotelli atau Edin Dzeko," tambah Mancini. Selain Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid, dan Juventus juga dilaporkan tertarik membeli Aguero. Mancini mengatakan Aguero, 23 tahun, akan dibeli bila Tevez memastikan diri meninggalkan klub. Dalam berbagai kesempatan Tevez mengatakan ingin pindah ke Amerika Selatan agar bisa lebih dekat dengan keluarganya. Mancini mengatakan dirinya menghormati keputusan Tevez, meski mengakui klub sulit melepas pemain Argentina itu. "Ia pemain yang hebat," puji Mancini. Mancini mengatakan dalam pembicaraan dengan Tevez, pemain depan tersebut tidak pernah mengatakan akan meninggalkan Manchester City. "Yang dia katakan adalah ia ingin lebih dekat dengan anaknya, dengan keluarganya," kata Mancini. Klub Brasil Corinthians mengajukan tawaran US$64,4 juta untuk Tevez namun sejauh ini belum ada tanda-tanda Tevez memulai proses kepindahan ke Amerika Selatan. Selain ingin membeli Aguero, Mancini juga mengungkapkan keinginan menggaet pemain Arsenal Samir Nasri. Kontrak Nasri tersisa satu tahun dan manajer Arsenal Arsene Wenger mengatakan tidak berencana menjual pemain asal Prancis tersebut. Bila Wenger memegang teguh keputusan tersebut dan Nasri tidak memperpanjang kontrak, klub lain bisa mendapatkan Nasri tanpa harus mengeluarkan biaya transfer tahun depan. "Nasri terikat kontrak dengan Arsenal. Ada banyak faktor yang harus dipertimbangkan ketika kami membeli Nasri," kata Mancini. "Saya tidak tahu apakah bisa mengajukan tawaran namun saya harap Nasri sudah bisa bermain untuk Manchester City sebelum akhir Juli," kata Mancini.
