According to the Indonesian immigration office, graft fugitive M. Nazaruddin visited Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, several days after he left Singapore, where he had fled to avoid a graft investigation.
“He visited Kuala Lumpur on June 26. We don’t have any more information,” Law and Human Rights Ministry Immigration Director General Bambang Irawan said Tuesday as quoted by tribunnews.com.
Earlier, Nazaruddin was reported to have left Singapore for Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on June 20.
Nazaruddin left Indonesia for Singapore, claiming to be seeking a medical treatment, on May 23, a day before a travel ban was imposed on him.
Being out of reach of Indonesian authorities in Singapore, Nazaruddin has avoided investigation by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) into his alleged role in a graft case linked to the SEA Games in Palembang, South Sumatra.
Despite the fact that Nazaruddin was named a suspect in the bribery case in late June, he remained free to move from one country to another until July 4, when the immigration office revoked his passport.
