Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa wins 2011 German Grand Prix at Sachsenring – MotoGP news Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa steamed to win the 2011 eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland held at Sachsenring, Germany. The ninth MotoGP round was a tough fight for the Spaniard but the circuit layout blessed Pedrosa with a win. Dani Pedrosa also won the 2010 German Grand Prix and with a victory in this season’s German event, he holds two wins in a row on the venue. Pedrosa said, “It's an incredible feeling to be back and win a race so early; I didn't expect it, but this circuit has been always very good for me and I made it happen. I was already surprised yesterday with second position in qualifying and to finish the weekend in this way is amazing, a huge relief for me after a very hard time with injuries.” Earlier in the season when Pedrosa came back to Estoril after a left collarbone surgery, he won the Portuguese event. In his second comeback in the season, he missed a decent finish at Mugello but the Spaniard proved his potential with a win at Germany. After his crash during the Le Mans round, he missed the following three events at Catalunya, Silverstone and Assen. The absence from MotoGP action dropped him to fifth place in the championship standings. Pedrosa commented about his physical relief at the German venue and said, “Here I suffered less than in Mugello because of the layout, but in the race today I had a strange feeling, something I've never had before. At the beginning of the race I wasn't feeling great on the bike.” From the start of the race, the Spaniard dropped to fourth place from a second place. Despite the position loss, he tried to maintain his pace and fight for the top seat in the race. After running smooth for about half the race, Pedrosa attempted to move up in the positions. With less fuel and worn tyres, he tried to overtake the riders ahead him which included his teammates, Casey Stoner and Andrea Dovizioso and Yamaha Factory Racing rider Jorge Lorenzo. His strategic attempt was fruitful and he finished the race on the top most stair of the podium. The next MotoGP round will take place in the United States on July 24, 2011.
